Strange log messages appeared on my system yesterday evening:

Jul 25 19:31:57 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 32767, max 1024
Jul 25 19:31:57 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 16383, max 1024

...
Jul 25 19:53:51 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 1029, max 1024
Jul 25 19:53:51 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 1028, max 1024
Jul 25 19:53:51 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 1027, max 1024

Jul 25 19:53:51 hoser kernel: dupfd: fd 1025, max 1024

There were a total of 7189 such messages. I'm running IDS on Redhat 6.0,
and I know it wants lots of file descriptors, but it was also my
understanding that those patches had been integrated into the Linus tree
and that, according to Informix, 6.0 is certified to run IDS, whatever
"certified" means. Anyone got a clue?

Thanks,

Kurt
