Since you asked Mike, we were the last to know.
I found out about it through the same medium you did, via Alan's
posting about cnet.com. ( Don't get me started. )

Thanks,

Tim

Wow! Now everyone is jumping on the band wagon. I guess its easier
to play follow the leader than to make an independent decision. ;-)

Ya know, TANSTAAFL still applies.
There are a lot of nasy bugs/surprises in Sybase. (Like I think the
version that they ported doesn't support row level locking.
Someone claimed that version 11.9.2 has RLL but hey, no site that
I know is yet using it, or even has it.
Yet I digress.
The point I'm trying to make, is that if you distribute your
product/software
on top of unsupported software, what happens to your clients down the road,
when something breaks?
I've seen it happen once. A consulting firm recommended a package to a
client. The company that wrote the package went belly up. The client
then gets a cease and desist letter in the mail preventing them from
using said package. Guess who got hit with a threat of a lawsuit?
(The consulting company.)
Besides, this is now moot.
An outside source familiar with Informix has announced that Informix
is going to port IDS to Linux. The question is, what says Informix?
Even Col Panic, doesn't know the truth and he works for Informix?
Tim and company have been awfully quiet and Tim's usually the guy
beating the big drum and calling for the brass band. ;-)
Just wondering......
