Hi there !

I have a problem with the sata_promise driver. My motherboard is an ASUS A8V
Deluxe, (Athlon64 3800+ CPU, 4GB RAM) and I have plugged a harddisk Maxtor
6B300S0 300GB on the SATA Promise controller in IDE-mode.

Unluckily, using a gentoo livecd version 2004.3 amd64, the kernel is compiled
with the 1.0 version of the promise driver, and it does not see the disk.

Using a SuSE 9.1 amd64 kernel, the latter is compiled with the 0.91 version of
the promise driver, and everything works fine.

Any clue ?

I have attached both boot.msg to this mail.

Pascal

PS:

The Kernel BUG under Gentoo was produced by a rmmod attempt !?
