Hello everyone,

This is to announce that we are now at RC2 for the 1.0.2 version of
Cluster Glue and the Resource Agents package, and at 3.0.2-rc2 for
Heartbeat. The other important announcement to make is that things are
getting moving on the www.linux-ha.org web site.

I think we all agree that while the current web site is not 100%
garbage, it contains a large amount of outdated (or outright wrong)
information, and the most troublesome part is that it is impossible for
users (specifically first-timers) to tell which content is useful and
which is rubbish. I'll spare you the examples, I believe everyone who
has been using the web site in
the last two years knows what I am talking about.

We are thus in the progress of pulling up a new website while leaving
the old one fully operational (and we intend to keep it that way for
quite a while). The new site is MediaWiki based and is located at
http://www.linux-ha.org/wiki/ with
http://www.linux-ha.org/wiki/Main_Page being the customary starting point.

Don't be disappointed; the site is quite skeletal at this point, but
expect this to change fairly rapidly.

Since the new site is all in the /wiki/ namespace that the old site does
not use, this allows us to keep both the old and new site running in
parallel as long as that is necessary. So you have time updating your
bookmarks and rewriting your blog entries.

For the time being, the http://www.linux-ha.org start page does _not_
redirect to the new MediaWiki, as the new site content is still
incomplete, but we intend to implement such a redirect by February.
Even then, the old content will still exist and direct links to the old
site will work. Once we decide that the new site has replaced or
supplanted most content of the old site, we will eventually drop the old
site with ample advance warning. We expect this to be several months
in the future, at the very least.

The other change about the website is that it finally states what
license applies to its contents. The old site has no such statement as
far as I can tell; the new site uses the Creative Commons Attribution
Share Alike 3.0 (CC-BY-SA) license. See
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ for details.

I should add that these changes were of course discussed with, and
approved by, the Linux-HA project Board.

The -rc2 tarballs will be available from the new site after we resolve
one file upload issue we are currently having; the download location
will be http://www.linux-ha.org/wiki/Download. For now,
you can grab your tarballs directly from Mercurial:

Cluster Glue:
http://hg.linux-ha.org/glue/archive/glue-1.0.2-rc2.tar.bz2

Heartbeat:
http://hg.linux-ha.org/dev/archive/STABLE-3.0.2-rc2.tar.bz2

Resource agents:
http://hg.linux-ha.org/agents/archive/agents-1.0.2-rc2.tar.bz2

Build instructions have been written up by Andrew on the Clusterlabs
website (http://clusterlabs.org/wiki/Install#From_Source). Happy testing!

If you want to help us out hugely and have access to a Solaris or
OpenSolaris box, we would be highly interested in getting
http://developerbugs.linux-foundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2252 fixed
before RC3 and need people to reproduce this issue.

With this, yours truly is finally off for the vacation I've technically
been on since Thursday, and will be back in January. In the meantime, if
you happen to have any questions or comments about the RCs, or the
website, then please do not hesitate to post to the -dev list, where
either Lars (Ellenberg) or Dejan will be happy to help you out.

Cheers,
Florian
