I read the automake documentation and have decided that surely something
else must have caused the problem I saw. There are some things that I
now know could have caused it - but I had assumed that this was the problem.
I also now know about DISTDIRS which could have been used to fix
basically any problem that might occur.
So, in summary, I suspect I was wrong on this.
Can the patch to this wait until 2.0.1?
