That is _still_ there? I'm amazed. I first recall reporting that to
perl5-porters in 1998/99 or so, in my - oh wonder! ;) - "client_monitor" I
wrote back then to monitor real servers...

My _really ugly_ workaround was that the client monitor simply reexeced itself
regularly, only carrying over the required data ... Crude, but _very_
effective. ;-)
