Hmmm..  Looks like RedHat isn't using recent versions.

I'm working on a freshly installed and patched RedHat 7.3 box, 
but I find that it is running 
  autoconf version 2.13   (which is 3.5 years old [2.53 is most current]) 
  automake version 1.4-p5 (which is 1 year old [1.6.3 is most current])
  libtool 1.4.2           (almost a year old, but still the most current)

Is the simplist solution to just upgrade to autoconf 2.52?

If so, which version of automake do you recommend?
