There is a vrrp deamon on sourceforge[1]. in short, VRPP is a protocol
which elect a master server on a LAN. If the master fails, another 
server takes over.
This implementation is written as specified in rfc2338. it is beta 
version which need to be tested and i hope linux-ha contains people 
willing to test it :)

disclaimer: i don't see it as a part of the 'linux-ha phase II' project 
  because the election mecanism isn't flexible enough. Nevertheless, vrrp
  is made for ha environment so linux-ha is a suitable mailing list.
