Are you really sure this is an issue of FAI? I'd guess (yes, just a blind guess)
that this is something the kernel does... So, at what step does this happen,
what are the log/console messages before and afterwards?

PS.: It might also be useful if you tell us about your exact kernel version and
the FAI version you use.
