a) diald 0.99 is four patch levels behind. Those patches fix bugs. If you
   have problems with an old version contact who ever you got it from. By
   repackaging it they have the responsiblity for keeping their package
   up to date or handling support on it. Everyone here has seen all these
   questions *long* ago...

b) Check your CDs or the web site of your distribution?

c) If you want to know what diald thinks it is doing then using the fine
dctrl Tcl/Tk script that comes with it will give you all the information
you need. Far more than a simple tcpdump.

d) Don't just post your log - *read it*! Why do you have two pppds?
   Because diald says it started one and your connect script says it
   started one. There's your clue. Read the docs carefully.
