The calling function for that routine was not quite complete when the
merge of the later patches had to go in. It will be enabled with the
setACL code (for new mount option "cifsacl") which will allow you to
change the Linux mode by modifying the CIFS ACL (current code allows you
to read the mode from the CIFS ACL).

Question about "[CIFS] add mode to acl conversion helper function"
Hi.
With current linus' tree I get the following warning:
CC fs/cifs/cifsacl.o
fs/cifs/cifsacl.c:199: warning: ?mode_to_access_flags? defined but not
used
Seems ce06c9f025120dbb2978d9b84641d76c25f17902 added that function
but it is not used anywhere. Is that a mistake?
