I want to connect a Linux PC (Redhat 4.2) with a SMC ATM Power 155 (eni
compatible) to our Digital GigaSwitch.
I use Linux 2.0.29 and atm-0.31, as I need Lane to connect to our LAN.
The Patch applies cleanly and everything compiles out of the box.
Only it seems that I dont get signaling to run.
On inserting the Module I get:
eni(itf 0): rev.0,base=0xfe800000,irq=10,mem=2048kB (00-00-C0-46-60-E0)
eni(itf 0): ASIC,MMF
When I start atmsigd I get (from dmesg):
atm_connect (TX: cl 1,bw 0-0,sdu 500; RX: cl 1,bw 0-0,sdu 500,AAL 5)
And in /var/log/atmsigd:
atmsigd:SIGD: Linux ATM signaling UNI 3.1/AAL5, version 0.31
atmsigd:SIGD: Acting as USER side
atmsigd:SSCF: entering state 2/2
atmsigd:IO: TO NET: ??? (0x00) CR 0x000101 (8 bytes)
atmsigd:IO: ----------
atmsigd:SSCF: entering state 4/10
....
Then I start ilmid -d -l /var/log/ilmid (dmesgoutput):
atm_connect (TX: cl 1,bw 0-0,sdu 484; RX: cl 1,bw 0-0,sdu 484,AAL 5)
/var/log/ilmid:
ilmid:ILMI: Linux ATM ILMI, version 0.31
ilmid:ILMI: sending cold-start
ilmid:ILMI: sending get-next
ilmid:ILMI: switch did not respond to get-next -- resending

^^^^ And I believe that this will cause Lane, etc not to work

Then get(dmesg):
eni(itf 0): TX DMA full
I installed NT and Lane yesterday to verify that the Gigaswitch, cable setup,
hardware, etc. Works correctly and it worked, but I really want to use Linux.
ciao,
florian
P.S.:
This is what /proc says:
cat /proc/atm/devices gives:
Itf Type ESI/"MAC"addr AAL(TX,err,RX,err,drop) ...
0 eni 0000c04660e0 0 ( 0 0 0 0 0 ) 5 ( 96 0 94 25 0 )
cat /proc/atm/pvc:
Itf VPI VCI AAL RX(PCR,Class) TX(PCR,Class)
0 0 5 5 0 UBR 353207 UBR
0 0 16 5 0 UBR 0 UBR
cat /proc/atm/svc:
Itf VPI VCI State Remote

P.P.S.:
Is there any method to kill atmsigd, ilmid, aping, etc cleanly ?
I allways have to reboot to get rid of the prozesses as
I can't kill them(ps auxww):
USER PID %CPU %MEM SIZE RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
root 843 0.0 0.0 0 0 p0 DW 12:57 0:00 (atmsigd)
root 856 0.0 0.0 0 0 p1 DW 12:59 0:00 (ilmid)
root 953 0.0 0.0 0 0 p2 DW 13:14 0:00 (aping)
