   Yes, this solves it! Many thanks to everyone who helped track this!

   But this fix doesn't seem to be in 2.6.14 - don't see it in
official patch-2.6.14.bz2 or 2.6.14.x git trees. Found it only in
linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git, committed on 2005-11-06, so
should be in 2.6.15.
