If the bootloader doesn't supply the kernel with a command line, it
will use the default command line which you can set when configuring
the kernel (in general setup, IIRC).
You can override the default commandline with blob:
boot console=ttySA0 root=/dev/mtdblock2
All words after the "boot" command will be passed to the kernel as a
commandline (see "help boot").
