=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
I am pleased to announce that Cook 2.16 is now available.
The cook program is a tool for constructing files, and maintaining
referential integrity between files.
Cook is a replacement for the traditional make(1) tool. However,
it is necessary to convert makefiles into cookbooks using the
make2cook utility included in the distribution.
You are invited to visit
http://www.canb.auug.org.au/~millerp/cook/
for a more complete description of what Cook is, and access to the
download files. New features and bug fixes are described in the
cook-2.16.README file.
If you are putting together a source-code distribution and planning
to write a makefile, consider writing a cookbook instead. Although
Cook takes a day or two to learn, it is much more powerful and a
bit more intuitive than the traditional make(1) tool. And Cook
doesn't interpret tab differently to 8 space characters!

What's EPD?
EPD is a new encapsulated vectorial graphic format.
We've developed it and put it with GPL License at
http://EPD.sourceforge.net/
The idea is very simple and powerful:
EPD uses the standard PDF (Adobe trademark) graphic syntax.
Every line is only one command.
Every line starting with % is a comment.
The command %BBox(x1,y1,x2,y2) will specify the Bounding Box.
This is a simple example
%EPD-1.0
% This is only a test with the new EPD format

Meeting : 11-14-2000
Topic : Multiple Monitors Using XFree86
Presenter : Dirk Bartley
The XFree86 Project produces an open source implementation of the X
Window System that runs on Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems.
An X-server is the underlying software that allows communication between
the hardware and the graphical user interface. The latest major upgrade
to Xfree86 is version 4, which includes support for multiple monitors.
Our meeting on November 14th will present a demonstration of a system
with working multiple monitors and an explanation of how to proceed with
configuring the x-server for multiple head support.
Dirk graduated in 1991 from Western Michigan University with a degree in
Electrical Engineering. He is currently employed as a Systems
Administrator at Schupan Aluminum Sales. There he administers the
corporate network using a system running Red Hat Linux. In his spare
time Dirk enjoys playing hockey, taking his dog for a walk, using Linux
and learning about how software can be used to benefit people.
We meet weekly, each Tuesday at 7pm. Our meeting site is Room 4202 of
Dunbar Hall on the campus of Western Michigan University.

Subject: BrowseX 1.1 released
Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2000 17:01:46 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
http://BrowseX.com
BrowseX Systems Inc. Announces Release 1.1 of BrowseX:
BrowseX is an Open Source, cross-platform Web Browser written primarily
in Tcl. It now installs as a single standalone binary: nothing to compile.
There are also several key new features: ZipView lets you view web
content contained in zip files, and Passman manages userid/passwords
to give near single signon capability within a web browser.
Tml is the BrowseX HTML Macro Processor built on top of Tcl. Together,
BrowseX and Tml are designed to simplify and enhance Web Authoring
without proprietary formats, tools, or languages. The BrowseX.com
web site is written entirely in Tml. There is also a minor widget
collection (Thin) that was assembled to produce BrowseX .
BrowseX Systems Inc does not sell BrowseX : it's free. We do sell
support, a fast C version of TML and TME: a TML Editor, and
consulting services. Watch for us at Comdex in Las Vegas, November 12-16.
We'll be at the WIE /Heavy Lifters booth along with PostgreSQL Inc.
Overview
BrowseX is a lightweight, but powerful alternative Web Browser written
by Peter MacDonald. It is based upon a modified Tkhtml widget to provide
fast HTML rendering. The remainder of the browser is implemented in
Tcl to achieve both portability and morphability. Meaning, you can
easily change virtually anything to suit your needs, without having
to worry about huge builds, compiles and crashes. BrowseX starts
out with most of the mainstream features of Netscape, but without the
fat. Then numerous nits or features Netscape should have, have been
added. Here's the highlights:
Highlights
o lightweight: starting at 3.8 Meg and works on a 12M/386 (in X!)
o improved configurability, and tighter integration with Unix
o better fault resilience and crash proofing
o reliable client side scripting via Safe-Tcl
o an embedded Postgres database client, also via Safe-Tcl
o an embedded macro processor: TML. Standalone to!
o less-mouse, and mouse-less operational support
o configuration defaults vary according to available resources
o an Alpha mime-capable mail reader (broken at the moment)
As of this release, Javascript has been compiled in, but not yet enabled.
The upcoming 1.2 release will have a working Javascript + DOM.
