ICS' BX PRO, LEADING UNIX GUI BUILDER NOW SUPPORTS SuSE LINUX
Release Targeted at Corporate Developers Worldwide

CAMBRIDGE, MA, May 4, 1999 -- Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS),
the leading supplier of user interface development tools for UNIX, today
announced that its flagship product, Builder Xcessory (BX PRO(tm)), is now
available for SuSE Linux. BX PRO is the GUI builder preferred by UNIX
software developers because its WYSIWYG environment simplifies and speeds
the creation of user interfaces.

ICS has ported the latest BX PRO release, V5.0.5, to SuSE 6.1. BX PRO 5.0
consists of Builder Xcessory(tm), the industry's most advanced graphical
user interface builder for Motif; ViewKit(tm), a flexible and mature C++
reuse framework that can be tailored to accommodate the specific needs of
individual businesses; and EnhancementPak(tm), a library of 34 reusable
components including business graphs and sophisticated user interface
controls. More detailed product information is available under the Products
section of the ICS home page at http://www.ics.com.

"We chose to support BX PRO on SuSE Linux because of their focus on
corporate developers. With over 950 software packages, including world
class database software from Informix and Sybase, SuSE Linux provides the
best distribution of Linux for corporate developers," said Peter Winston,
ICS president. "Long the most popular distribution of Linux in Europe, with
30,000 installed business customers, we believe that SuSE's commitment to
partnerships with ISV's and VAR's like ICS, will help them to be successful
in the USA too."

"One of our goals is to ensure that corporate developers have the best
available tools to do their job on Linux," said Marc Torres, President of
SuSE "We're pleased that this focus has paid off in ICS porting the
industry's leading GUI builder for Motif to SuSE Linux. This will help
speed the adoption of Linux by mission critical developers, many of which
use ICS' BX PRO."

Pricing and Availability
BX PRO for SuSE is available immediately.

ICS is giving away 100 Personal Use licenses to BX PRO every week through
June 11th to developers registering at the special ICS Linux website
(http://linux.ics.com). Free 30-day evaluations are available for download
at this website.

Personal Use licenses are available to developers of open source software
for $250/license when ordered online at http://store.ics.com. A General Use
license for BX PRO on the Linux operating system, which includes technical
support, is available to corporations at $4,500/user in North America.
Prices vary elsewhere in the world.

Platforms Supported
In addition to SuSE, ICS licenses BX PRO on popular UNIX workstations from
Sun, HP, IBM, DEC and SGI. Support for other distributions of Linux is also
provided. Applications built with BX PRO 5.0 can also be deployed to the
Web or Windows NT with optional add-on products offered by ICS.

About ICS
Founded in 1987, Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc., headquartered in
Cambridge, MA, provides user interface development tools for UNIX
developers that promote rapid application development and software reuse.
ICS' products are used by corporate developers to create custom, mission
critical applications that are not available "off-the-shelf." When a Boeing
airplane flies, a financial transaction is performed on Wall Street, a
subway train of the Boston MBTA is switched onto the right track, a network
communication problem is diagnosed and bypassed by US West, a family is
entertained by the latest animated movie from Walt Disney, a US defense
system built by Lockheed is tested in a drill or real combat, or a
spacecraft is launched into space by NASA, an ICS product was probably used
in the creation of the custom software that made it possible.

ICS is also a leader in Java and X/Motif training. In addition, ICS
provides quality technical support and consulting services, which further
allow developers to be successful. The Open Group recently selected ICS to
provide front line support for their Motif source code licensees
recognizing ICS' unique expertise in Motif and the X Window System. For
further information on ICS, its products or services, call 617-621-0060, or
visit the ICS Website at http://www.ics.com.

SuSE Linux features 950 of the most popular Linux applications on a set of
5 CD-ROMs, including database and office applications, developer

StarOffice 5.0, an MPEG Video player (mtv/mtvp) by MpegTV, IBM DB2,

for its "terrific" user manual and its installation and administration
tool, YaST, "The best-all-in-one Linux management tool by a long shot,"
(Steven J. Vaughn-Nichols and Jay Carr, Sm@rtReseller, 1/99).

Founded in 1992 in Germany, SuSE Inc. is based in Oakland, CA, where it

Featured Presentation: Netatalk: Apple - Linux Interfac

+++++++++++++++++++++++++ From Net-3-HOWTO ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Appletalk support allows your Linux machine to interwork with Apple
networks. An important use for this is to share resources such as
printers and disks between both your Linux and Apple computers.

Additional software is required, this is called netatalk. Wesley Craig
netatalk@umich.edu represents a team called the `Research Systems Unix
Group' at the University of Michigan and they have produced the
netatalk package which provides software that implements the Appletalk
protocol stack and some useful utilities. The netatalk package will
either have been supplied with your Linux distribution, or you will
have to ftp it from its home site at the University of Michigan
<ftp://terminator.rs.itd.umich.edu/unix/netatalk/>

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

CLUE is open to anyone interested in Linux. We look forward to seeing
you there.

Subject: pinfo-0.5.1 - info / man viewer
Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 09:01:39 GMT
Reply-To: pborys@zeus.polsl.gliwice.pl

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

* Description:

Pinfo is an info file viewer. It was created, when I
was very depressed, trying to read gtk info entries
using the standard tools. Pinfo is similar in use to lynx.
It has similar key movements, and gives similar intuition.
You just move across info nodes, and select links, follow
them... Well, you know how it is when you view html with
lynx. :)
It supports as many colors, as it could.
Pinfo also supports viewing of manual pages -- they're
colorised like in the midnight commander's viewer, and
additionaly they are hypertextualized (i.e. when pinfo
encounters a reference of form manualname (n), then you
can press enter there, and voila -- you're on the page
for `manualname'.
Keyboard and colors are fully configurable.
Pinfo supports URL's embedded into info documents and man
pages. To be precise, supported URL's are mailto, ftp, http.

* What's new since the last version announced here?

0.5.1 Added support for mailto urls
Fixed highlighting routines for info pages, which ignored
        tabulation formatting.
Added key_pgdn(up)_auto for automatic going to the next(previous)
node at the bottom(top) of viewed node. Also added support for
        0 key value.
Fixed one bug in $INFOPATH handler.
Added support for hypertextualization of weird man sections
        (i.e. 3X11, 3Xt, etc. -- it's configurable)
Config file allows you now to specify your web browser, and
        maileditor.
Added national language support for Swedish and Czech.
0.5.0 Added support for http:// and ftp:// URLs embedded into
        man pages/info pages.
Secured the mechanism of tmp file creation
Added optional highlight for `quoted' text in info files
        Moved to configure (autoconf, automake)!
        Fixed sigsegv by regexp searchs.
Added support for infos not ending with `.info*' suffix
Added new feature to key_goto -- now when you pass there
a name, ending with `.info', then key_goto will move you not
to specified node, but to specified info document.
Locale support now is working (see at the example with polish
        translation).
        Added key_dir
        Fixed support for xterm mouse.
0.4.9 Corrected global search code for inirect info files (that is
those, split up across several info files). It works fine now.
0.4.8 You can now browse man pages from different sections.

Subject: new version 2.0 of dosfstools (mkdosfs and dosfsck)
Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 09:10:08 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

The tools mkdosfs and dosfsck were now orphaned[1] for some time and were
lacking important new features. Therefore I decided to take them over
now. (I'm also Debian maintainer of both tools.)

I've merged both tools into one source package (named dosfstools) and
raised the version number to 2.0 (1.0 existed formerly in the Debian
distribution).

Major new features are:

 - FAT32 support in both mkdosfs and dosfsck
 - VFAT (long filename) support in dosfsck
 - Support for Atari variant of MS-DOS filesystem in both tools
 - Working support for big-endian systems in both tools
 - Better support for loop devices in mkdosfs: usual floppy sizes are
detected and media byte etc. set accordingly; if loop fs has no
standard floppy size, use hd params
   (mainly by Giuliano Procida <gpp10@cus.cam.ac.uk>)
 - Removed lots of gcc warnings
 - Fixed some minor calculation bugs in mkdosfs.

The sources and binaries for i386 (glibc2.1) are available at

  ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/Linux/LOCAL/dosfstools

I've also uploaded them to sunsite, they should be installed there in
a few days.

Roman

[1]: In the meantime Gordon Chaffee has published a mkdosfs-0.4.1
including FAT32 support. However, he didn't intend to maintain
mkdosfs. I've implemented FAT32 support in mkdosfs independently from
Gordon, but the effect should be the same. My release now is also ok
for Gordon.

Subject: ntop 1.1 - network usage monitor

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

ntop is a Unix tool that shows the network usage, similar to what the
popular top Unix command does. ntop is based on libpcap and it has been
written in a portable way in order to virtually run on every Unix
platform and on Win32 as well. ntop can be used in both interactive or
web mode. In the first case, ntop displays the network status on the
user's terminal. In web mode a web browser (e.g. netscape) can attach to
ntop (that acts as a web server) and get a dump of the network status.
In the latter case, ntop can be seen as a simple RMON-like agent with an
embedded web interface.

CHANGES (1.0 -> 1.1)
- - Added thread support
- - User-configurable web interface with sortable HTML tables
- - Added Network flows support and network throughput graphs
- - Added local traffic support (via lsof)
- - Added subnet traffic matrix
- - Enhanced several traffic statistics
- - Fixed compatibility problems with several UNIX flavours
- - Full user-defined IP protocol configuration
- - Added OSI support
- - Added TokenRing, PPP and Headerless (e.g. loopback) interfaces
- - Fixed several bug and interface glitches

ntop is distributed under the GNU GPL and is available in two formats:
- - source (it should compile virtually on any Unix platform)
- - package
      Linux (Debian, RedHat, Slackware, SuSe)
      IRIX 6.2
      Solaris 2.7 (i386 and SPARC)
      HP-UX 11.X
      FreeBSD 3.X
      AIX 4.1
      Windows NT (in schedule)

ntop can be downloaded from http://www-serra.unipi.it/~ntop/
and http://www.wilmcd.com/ntop/.

Cheers, Luca.
