Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 23:15:14 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

With mod_roaming you can use your Apache webserver as a Netscape
Roaming Access server. This allows you to store your Netscape
Communicator 4.5 preferences, bookmarks, address books, cookies etc.
on the server so that you can use (and update) the same settings from
any Netscape Communicator 4.5 that can access the server.

This is the first stable release, and also features a work-around for
the IMAP filter problem. Please see the file CHANGES for details.

Subject: COMMERCIAL: PlainSoft SSM - Support Service Management for call centers
Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 23:20:51 GMT

Press Release
For immediate release

PlainSoft SSM - Support Service Management - A 100% Java application

Summary
(60 words, 397 characters)

BUC, January 1999 - ADNT announces PlainSoft SSM (Support Service Management),
a 100% Java client/server application for call centers. It's fancy interface
uses Java Swing. PlainSoft SSM offers a wide variety of databases to connect
with, thanks to SUN JDBC and PlainSoft XAS APIs. The full product is available
for evaluation at http://www.adnt.fr Installation is fully automated via
Jshield (TM).

PlainSoft XAS installs on Linux 2.0.32 (tested with Java 1.1.6) and Java
compatible OSs.

- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                SSM Overview

PlainSoft SSM aims to provide call centers, hot line centers, and support
service providers with a range of simple and effective, low-cost management
tools. Compatible with heterogeneous systems environments, the package is
designed to allow users and developers to add-on their own services if
necessary.

SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT. Users interact with PlainSoft SSM via an easy-to-use
interface (based on windows, menus, icons and tabs) to create and store
records and files. Multi-criteria search facilities allow for updating or
altering data. PlainSoft SSM is so easy, just a few hours are enough to learn
how it works.

HETEROGENEOUS SYSTEMS. Written in 100% Java, PlainSoftSSM, runs on almost
all commercially available platforms. It has been tested under Unix and
Windows 95/NT with these databases:

    * Adaptive Server (Sybase), * Personal Oracle 8 (Oracle),
    * MS SQL Server (Microsoft), * Online WS (Informix),
    * SQL Anywhere (Sybase), * others adaptable...

USER UPGRADABLE. The documentation gives users and developers full
information on the structure of the database. As a result they can
use tools, such as OLAP for example, to derive complex statistics on
the data collected. The documentation is sufficient to allow developers
to create specific routines for particular user needs.

ENTITIES. The main entities managed by PlainSoft SSM are: clients,
projects (or products, etc.), platforms (data specific to a client and
a given project), and dossiers (support files) which are made up of
interventions, participants in interventions and contracts.

The best way to find out what PlainSoft SSM has to offer is to try it out.
If you don't have a database you can use the SQL Anywhere database for
Windows NT supplied with the package.

                        Linux-Québec
                        ============

                Rencontre technique mensuelle
                =============================

                Monthly Technical Meeting
                =========================

When: Wednesday February 10, 1999 at 19:00 (19990210T1900)
Where: École Polytechnique de Montréal, room A-604
Subject: Architecture of a Linux system

Jacques Gélinas will expose the inner workings of a Linux system and
describe how the system is initialized, how daemons are started, etc.
The presentation on GNOME which was initially scheduled for this month
has been postponed given the project's quick evolution and the
imminent release of its version 1.0.

Our monthly technical meetings are free and open to all. They are
generaly held on the second wednesday of each month, except in July
and August. They are an opportunity to discuss the latest news in
the Linux world, establish contacts, and listen to a technical
presentation on a Linux and open software related subject. They are
often held at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
