This is an announce for the 0.81 release of STklos.

STklos is a free Scheme System (nearly) conform to R5RS. The aim of this
implementation is to be fast as well as light. The implementation is
based on an ad-hoc Virtual Machine. STklos can also be compiled as a
library, so that one can easily embeds it in an application.

The salient points of STklos are:
      * efficient and powerful object system based on CLOS providing
          - Multiple Inheritance,
          - Generic Functions,
          - Multi-methods
          - an efficient MOP (Meta Object Protocol)
      * a simple to use module system
      * implements the full tower of numbers defined in R5RS
      * easy connection to the GTK+ toolkit
      * Perl compatible regular expressions thanks to the PCRE package.
      * tail recursive calls are properly implemented

Changes in this release:

This is a bug-fix version. Previous release had a bug which prevent to
compile it on some architectures/systems.

    * Corrected a deadlock when compiling the system
    * Corrected bugs in SRFI-0 and SRFI-13

PeaZip is an OS-portable archiver tool (released for Windows and Linux,
Linux version requires libgdk_pixbuf library); it supports it's native
Pea archive format (featuring compression, splitting and flexible
encryption and integrity check schemes) and other mainstream formats,
with especial focus on handling open formats.

Full support: 001 (raw file split/join), 7z, 7zip sfx, Bzip2, Gzip,
Pea, Tar, Zip;
Browse/extract-only support: Z.

PeaZip doesn't follow the Explorer-like interface paradigm; the
interface is more similar to a CD/DVD-burner application, allowing the
user to:
- save and restore layout of archives (input files and folders
list) to speed up definition of archiving and backup operations;
- save job definition (as plain text, to be used in any script
language);
-       have a detailed job log after each operation;

The interface is fully skinnable (skins can be customised and saved as
plain text to be re-edited as freely as possible) and uses customisable
transparency.
The program doesn't need to be installed/unistalled, it can run from
any path (even remote; a writeable path is recommended), however
Windows version is released both as a standalone binary and as a fully
automated installer/uninstaller package, allowing tight system
integration to use PeaZip right from Explorer.

PeaZip basically acts as a graphic frontend for Pea executable
(graphical) from the same Author and for Igor Pavlov's 7za executable,
that can run in console mode or trough a graphical wrapper to allow
more user-friendly handling of output information.
