A server runs RedHat7.0 and is also the NIS. It ignores
all characters beyond eight in a login password, whether you type them or
not.

One of the clients run RedHat 7.2 and looks at NIS on server. It
doesnt ingnore characters beyond eight in password and prevents login. But
if the user only types the first eight characters it works fine. Other
clients running RedHat 7.1 or lower do not exhibit this behaviour.

Why does this happen? How can the client (RedHat 7.2) be
configured to ignore characters more than eight in the password? ( i dont
want to reconfigure server)

	Can someone help me?

regards,
Mahesh M.
