Hello people

I had a problem with the perc
 
The controller is working on a dual Gigabyte pIII SLOT-1 with Awards
BIOS with Intel 440BX
chipset
I installed it on a dual Gigabyte pIII socket 370 with VIA APOLLO
chipset and American
Megatrends BIOS and whet it did the hardware test the PC just freeze
The same PC works with no problem as web server (in fact is a 
heavy duty ad server)
with no problems at all and i was forced to leave the PERC2 on the old
Gigabyte motherboard
 
Is any known incompatibility between the PERC2 controller and any
BIOS/chipset?

I want to change the motherboard could you recommend (off the record)
any motherboard that would work better with the PERC2 controller?
 
I have another question
 
If for any reason the controller crashes (hardware) and i am force to
change it,the information about the raid structure are kept on the 
disks? (so theyhave told me from the Dell here in Greece) or i'll loose
all my data?
Can i somehow backup in a disk or a floopy the raid structure?

This controller will operate on a 64pci bus on a sun?
