Hi Mark,

I did, I opened a PMR at IBM (FYI 91682,031,724).

Looking a bit further, I think the SuSEfirewall is started in the second stage \
install. But the firewall is not yet configured at that time as this is actually part \
of the second stage. The /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall file at login during the second \
stage is basically empty (or at least missing the explicit enable of sshd) while that \
configuration is present after the second stage is finished.

Just for fun, I disabled the firewall in the xml file and ran the installation. I \
didn't expect to see a difference. But, surprise, it did. Looks like the firewall is \
incorrectly configured during the initial install.

Yes, it does. Just like it does during manual install. The same goes for SLES 12 SP2. \
The configuration is included in the xml file. So if anything, the firewall should be \
configured the same in both ways of installing. The sshd is indeed allowed for all \
interfaces.

I don't think that's the problem. I can't connect, not even from a Linux guest on the \
same vswitch/vlan.

The gateway is set in the PARMFILE used during install, both for the manual install \
and the autoyast installation. This should be included in the Linux configuration in \
the same way.

Did you ping it from some place other than the same subnet it is on?
Perhaps the default gateway isn't set?

Hi All,

I am installing a new SLES 12 SP3 system. So first I run a manual install.
After install is completed the machine is rebooted. So far no problem. After reboot \
the system is accessible as expected. So now I run yast2 clone_system to create an \
autoinst.xml file.

Next I use the autoinst.xml file to run an automatic install. The autoyast installer \
runs through the install. Next the machine is rebooted. The guest states sshd is \
started so I should be able to connect to the machine. The IP address is registered \
in the vswitch and I can ping the machine. But I can't access the system for the \
second stage install, the ssh session simply times out.

I have used various versions of the xml file. Both the base as created by
yast2 and a file that has been rebuild to add options we want to have from within the \
autoyast installation. It looks like the installation is executed correctly but no \
luck accessing the machine after reboot with any of the attempts.

I have done the same with SLES 12 SP2 and found no such problems.

What could be the cause of this?
