I have troulble with slurs

Staff = \relative c {
       \clef bass
       \key a \major
       \time 4/4
       \set doubleSlurs = ##t
       < e ( cis' > 1 | < e cis' ) > 4 e cis a }

Where is problem?
 the slur dont apear. When use 2 slur ( and \( lilypond join only the
first note ;( not up to up down to down

Wha I can make a different size of staff? Upper bigest
