Actually, from a technical point of view, LibreOffice is just one
application. It indeed has a quite large "shared LibreOffice core"
already. This can easily be seen by just looking at what processes are
running (in a platform-dependant way, like Task Manager on Windows)
when you have for instance Calc and Writer documents open compared to
if you have just a Writer document open. The LibreOffice process is
called "soffice.bin" on Windows and Linux, "soffice" on Mac OS X.

But yeah, the main point of your email is valid anyway, if one
replaces the potentially misleading term "application" with something
different, like "different kind of documents", or whatever might be
short and snappy. Anyway, talking about "LibreOffice applications", as
if they were separate, is clearly misleading. Sure, it might be that
*you* know that there is just one same process handling all the
different kinds of documents, but somebody else might misunderstand.

(Compare to Microsoft Office, where Excel, Word and Powerpoint *are*
separate programs. That doesn't mean it, too, wouldn't have a large
shared codebase, of course.)
