Hi,

the problem is that for all that years, since migration to KF5, nobody cares about Python bindings for KF5 libraries, hence Kate can't port the Pate plugin, which is a "Python host" for writing plugins using Python...

So all that KDE4 stuff just don't work in your version at all and I'm starting to think never will ...

Hi,

Have the python plugins

https://pypi.org/project/Kate-plugins/

been deprecated at some moment?

I am running Kate 17.12.3 on Ubuntu 18

How they are supposed to work / where they are supposed to be placed ?

~/.kde/share/apps/kate/plugins$ tree
.
├── filetree
├── katecloseexceptplugin
├── katekonsole
├── katepateplugin  .. maybe here?  this directory is empty
├── katesearch
└── project

I tried to place them under plugin and under katepateplugin in different
ways .. kate never found them
