I just read about .kateproject at
http://kate-editor.org/2012/11/02/using-the-projects-plugin-in-kate/  .

I'd like to try it out, but I don't know json.

The following almost works. I'd like it to include all files in the
directory *except* certain files, notably PostScript files and it puts
them all in the project panel. I'm pretty sure it's just because I don't
understand the syntax.

I don't currently use any version control software - still have to learn
git.

Is this written up anywhere yet?

{
  "name": "duplex"
, "files": [ { "directory": "current", "excludes": ["*.ps"] } ]

}

I also tried "$excludes".

".kateproject" is in /home/bigbird/pgm/duplex_proj/devel/ and "current"
is a symlink in that directory: current -> duplex_0_2_3_1

duplex_0_2_3_1 is a directory which contains all the files I build my
release tarball from. Most are bash scripts (with no extensions in their
names). The rest are documentation. I want kate to load them all except
Test_File.ps and license.txt.

bigbird@ramdass:~/pgm/duplex_proj/devel/duplex_0_2_3_1$ ls
change_log.txt  dprint   duplex      INSTALL  kmprb_one  license.txt
mprb      pqnext  rmpq
dplx dprintm duplex.txt kmprb krmpq mpr
mprb_rev  README  Test_File.ps

TIA

Joe - happy kate user for a couple of decades

kubuntu precise with a ton of backports, kate 3.11.3, KDE Development
