Well, xmltools doesn't currently have that much of an XML parser, all it 
currently does is some string juggling to find enclosing tags. A proper parser 
would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Adrian, if you're interested in adding the functionality to xmltools, I'd be 
glad to help with any integration work (I'm the one behind the KDE4 port).
