Hi guys,

I have discussed with Christoph a couple of weeks ago about an autumn
project that is being held at our University. This course is meant to
introduce (first and second year) students to the world of open source
programming. You can find some more details at [1].

Diana (former GSoC student at Kate) and I have decided to bring new
contributors to Kate within this program. During this course, we will
mentor two or three students that are willing to improve Kate. At
first, we need to provide them some tasks that will be completed
during the next 9 weeks. These tasks have to be both useful to Kate
and not too difficult to implement for the students.

Christoph has provided us with the lists of bugs[2] and wishes[3] for
Kate, and we saw there are some XML related wishes. We thought that
these can be grouped in an XML plug-in. In this way, the students can
work on their project without having to deal with the whole code base.
Here are some features we thought we could include in this plug-in:

- XML matching tag highlight and jump

- Hint with XML-error with highlighting

We are looking forward to your feedback. Please let us know if you
consider these tasks too difficult or with a low priority. Also, if
you have more ideas on what this plug-in should contain, please let us
know.
