Summary: The program crashed rather than start.
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kwrite
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel@kde.org
        ReportedBy: wg3w@spamcop.net

Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
Compiler: c 4.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

I'm sorry about the apparent lack of a useful backtrace. I surmise that it must
be a matter of confusing me because of the extremely short time that it spends
actually trying to run.

That said, I must spend at least a little time trying to reconstruct the
circumstances attending its breakdown. I was in a .PDF trying vainly to get a
usable clipboard cllipping of part of the .PDF. I had just once again filled
the clipboard space with another image of the data I am trying to save. I tried
to save it to a file iinstead and then tried to open the file using Kwrite;
this crash resulted. What was worse, it was infinitely repeatable until
something else got into the memory right there. Fortunately, something else did
indeed get into the memory where the clippings are stored, which made it
possible to start Kwrite long enough to get the following error print-out from
it:

Application that crashed: kwrite
Version of the application: 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)
KDE Version: 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)
Qt Version: 4.6.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.32 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux testing (squeeze)

But this is the backtrace I had originally:

I must say that Kwrite's version does appear to be a faithful reconstruction of
my own version. I can only hope that it proves adequate in the light of the
extreme obstacles thrown up in my way of getting it to you. If not, I stand
ready to correct my installation at a word from you as to what is missing from
it.

Thank you very much! :)
