The same is happening for me, using Ubuntu packages for KDE 4.2.0, using Kate
3.2.0. Find in files no longer appear, even in the Edit menu. I must set a
shortcut, and then find in files can be activated via this shortcut. From this
moment on, find in files will be in the bottom of the screen, together with
ctags plugin, terminal, etc.
When i restart the program, the plugin is not there anymore, but in the plugin
configuration he is there, marked to use.
It would be nice also to have this plugin again in the tool bar, just like the
other plugins, because it is very useful
