Summary: kwrite: backup on save - prefix doesn't work if it's a
                    directory
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Mandriva RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kwrite
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: kde richardneill org

Version: (using KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

KWrite has the wonderful feature of being able to backup local files when edited, \
either by appending a suffix (eg ~), or by prepending a prefix. The prefix works fine \
if I use a few letters, eg BAK.

BUT, nothing happens (and it fails silently) if the prefix is a directory. I want to \
save backups directly into the trash, therefore I tried setting the prefix to \
~/trash/ I also tried /home/rjn/trash [I checked - the directory does exist]

If you fix this, you can also close bug #117088

Thanks,

Richard
