I use KDE3, maybe it is the problem. And I don't use tabs.

Well, if you want to find out the end, yes, it shows the end, but you see it all the \
time, even if you are in the middle of text, it takes a lot of space (not everybody \
uses hires), so it is hardly comparable with tiny mark "<" at then end of the text \
(which does not take any vertical space). \
