Hi, in http://kate-editor.org/article/writing_a_kate_highlighting_xml_file
just below "The Sections in Detail", in the description of the <context> 
element the attribute "attribute" is not mentioned.

IIRC it defines the itemData to use when a rule does not specify an attribute 
and also not specifies a destination context (in which case that attribute is 
taken from the destination context).
