Summary: Wish: words will not jump on backspace in textboxen
Product: kate
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: kwrite
AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
ReportedBy: kde-2 dotancohen com
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Automatic textwrap in KDE textboxen move an entire word to the beginning of \
the next row when the word is too long to fit in the box. This is expected \
behaviour. However, when deleting letters in the word, it jumps back to the \
end of the previous line. This is consistent with every other OS I've ever \
seen.
However, it would be preferable if the word did not jump around, and would \
stay at the beginning of the next line until it is finished, only then will \
the choice of bringing it up a line be made.
The rational is that one would be typing a word, and then it jumps down a \
line. The user makes a correction, and the word jumps twice more: once when \
backspacing, and again when typing the corrected text. This is very \
annoying to users who look at the screen while typing and not at the \
keyboard. In my experience, once a word moves down a line, even if it gets \
corrected, it will wind up staying there after the correction. \
