I can confirm this bug. Not only after the pipe symbol, but every time when ' or '' \
characters are in this breakets: [[ ]] or [ ].

For example an image description in italics from Wikipedia: 

[[Image:Parasaurolophus.jpg|''Parasaurolophus walkeri'' skull]]

Result: ''Parasaurolophus walkeri'' skull]] and a few lines of text unter this image \
will be in red and underlined. 

It appears very often, and because of that I can't use the Mediawiki highlighting. 

I use Kate 2.5.7 on KDE 3.5.7 on Debian Sid.
