When I originally posted the wishlist, my aim was to reduce the amount of hand \
movement required to get out of an autocomplete and get to the line above or below. \
In retrospect, I guess it doesn't matter too much which keys are used as long as \
there is a simple way to reject the autocomplete suggestion that doesn't include \
moving the arrow key left or right to get out of the word.
It has been so long since I had to do any programming in Kate, but I think \
autocomplete should exhibit the following behaviour:
* The up and down arrows does or does not wrap around (first suggestion+up = line \
above, last suggestion+down = line below) (user configurable)
* Any one of the following keys would cause autocomplete suggestion to be accepted \
(enter, space, tab, right, whatever the user wants)
* Any one of the following keys would cause autocomplete to cancel (space, tab, \
escape, home, end, home-home, end-end, right, left, any other character that doesn't \
produce an autocomplete match, any other keys the user wants)
* An additional option for each of those keys to have dual functionality (ie. \
accept/reject the autocomplete and do or not do what the key is designed to do) For \
example, I might specify the space bar will accept the autocomplete suggestion, then \
I can also specify whether or not I want the space bar to also insert a space after \
the autcomplete suggestion is filled in. I might specify the enter key will accept \
the autocomplete suggestion, then I also specify the enter key should *not* insert a \
newline after the autocomplete. I might specify end will cancel the autocomplete, but \
will *not* move the cursor to the end of the line after the autocomplete is \
cancelled. Etc. _______________________________________________
