Where is the second mode? The jumping mode you described would be a extremely useful \
feature no matter what (with status bar indicating there was only "jump" not undo").

I don't agree -- show my the scenario when it is useful and deleting char by char \
could not be done?

Cursor movement should be separator for undo "hot points".

My vote goes for the jumping feature.
