But now the effects of two conceptually different actions are defined by only 
one option:
(1) Inserting tab characters by using the tab key
(2) Automatic translation of spaces to tabs

So I propose fully decoupling (1) and (2) and have an option like
	[x] Tab key inserts tab character
for (1) and
	[x] Allow tab characters for automatic indentation
for (2). I think this should be clear enough not to be misunderstood and also 
retains the degree of freedom KDE 3.5 kate provides.
