"Nearly identical", yes (and I am fully aware that bug #127765 is a lot more recent). \
However, that one is asking for *full* regexp replacement support (including things \
like '&' and '\1'). This one only covers escape sequences. That is why I called the \
other one a "superset" of this.

Come to think of it, it would be better if this one were blocking that one.
