Summary: Scrolling the first ~60 lines is very slow
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: joern.ahrens kdemail net

Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3
OS: Linux

When I edit a file with more than 60 lines with kate, scrolling down the text with \
the cursor keys is very slow for the first ~60 lines (maybe it is the 58. or 59. \
line...). The CPU is at 100% - X takes most of it. When the 60th line is scrolled \
out of the window, then scrolling works fine. When I scroll up again, and the 60th \
line comes into display the scrolling is slow again.

I have this effect with kate and with the "Embedded Advanced TextEditor" in
kdevelop or quanta on an AMD64 and an AMD XP (both installed from cvs
yesterday).

I tried kwrite and it has the same problem. Scrolling in kword, kedit, .... works \
fine.

Installed qt version: 3.3.3 and 3.3.4

Please let me know, if you need more information or assistance.
