Summary: always removes trailing whitespace (config switch is
                    ignored)
           Product: kate
           Version: 2.3.2
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: tim.ruehsen openmediasystem de

Version: 2.3.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

There is a switch 'remove trailing whitespace' in the settings/editor windows. It has \
always been 'on' - I really like this feature. But now I started working on Mozilla \
and the people complained about removed white spaces. So I switched the option off. \
But the trailing white space are still removed on saving. This is 100% reproducible. \
Stopping/starting kate or rebooting does not help. The switch is off but the spaces \
are removed.

If it helps: switching on/off the option changes katerc:
from
Basic Config Flags=8945712
to
Basic Config Flags=76054576

Is there a workaround (except using a different editor)?
