------- Either you changed the option managing this feature (I don't remember emacs \
case, in xemacs it is 'Make Backup Files' option in 'Version Control' config group), \
or those ~ files are made BEFORE the files started being version controlled (the \
scenario: you create a.c, then you save it so a.c~ is created, then you add a.c to \
version control - but a.c~ is already there so it stays). \
