Summary: support directory-wide settings like .emacs-dirvars
           Product: kate
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: l.savernik aon at

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

Kate allows configuration options like

// kate: tab-indents on; space-indent on; replace-tabs off; indent-width 2; \
dynamic-word-wrap off; indent-mode cstyle

to be included within a text file.

Emacs supports this too, and additionally supports an .emacs-dirvars file, whose \
options apply to all files belonging to the directory of the .emacs-dirvars file.

I therefore suggest that Kate supports a

.kate-dirvars

file, which contains nothing but kate-options as specified at the beginning that are \
applied to all files in the same directory.

The advantage lies in not being forced to edit each file's kate options individually, \
but to change them per directory. This would make adding and changing options much \
easier. _______________________________________________
