Summary: syntax-highlighting download dialog should show which
files are updated
Product: kate
Version: unspecified
Platform: RedHat RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kwrite-devel kde org
ReportedBy: kde holovaty com
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
Presently, when I click Settings | Configure Kate | Highlighting | "Download...", a "Highlight Download" \
dialog box shows up, listing each syntax-highlighting package available, the current version installed, \
and the latest available version. That's useful information, but it is difficult to see which packages \
have updated versions available without having to at each line one at a time and comparing the \
"Installed" to "Latest" version.
The interface would be improved if upgradable packages were offset somehow -- in bolded text, for \
instance. Or perhaps the packages that already *are* in the latest version should be grayed-out.
Another idea, clearly trickier to implement, is to have an "upgrade all" button, which, when pressed, \
would download and install all the out-of-date and new syntax-highlighting packages. I suspect a full \
upgrade is the most common task related to users' management of these packages, so the interface would \
benefit a great deal from such a feature.
