Yes you're right, I hadn't noticed this because I always put {'s on a new line.
Have tried to play around with the syntax definition but have been unable to fix this. I don't
know XML or how the Kate highliting definitions really work, so perhaps someone who does will
have more luck.
I notice the same sort of code example in C++ *does* work, so it is probably possible. The
PERL syntax definition is a lot more complex than the C++ one though.
