I have just reactivated that old QNX machine again (in between it was acting as a linux firewall testbed). Using a different SuSE7.3 machine than before I could not reproduce that behaviour. However, the laptop that I first noticed the problem on still has it. Both machines have been installed from the same cd set, so it's likely to be a config difference, possibly in konqueror or for the kio-ftp slave. The network section in the Kontrol-center on the working machine has a lot more section than on the not-working one. I can't indentify any relevant info on either, though. Oh, well. As I'm at the beginner/intermediate level regarding KDE, I'll try the MS-Solution : reinstall everything and hope it works. >Opening self-created >files with 0x1e in them in kwrite shows as one line, which is the correct >behavior IMO.
