Subject: [Kwrite-devel] Bug#37282: wrong layout when printing with syntax highlighting enabled
From: gernot () hillier ! de

[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kwrite
Version: KDE 2.2.2
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: problem reproduced with SuSE RPMs for SuSE 7.1 and 7.3 \
(ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE)
With the current kwrite I get nearly unusable printouts when syntax highlighting is \
enabled.
Spacing between letters and words seems to vary randomly which leeds to an almost \
unreadable layout. It seems as if many blanks would be in the text which aren't \
there.
for example: the line
vector<Thermometer_impl *> thermoList;
looks in the printout like (roughly)
vector < Thermometer_impl * > thermoList;
Here's an example (all 4 files are from printouts of the same C++ file):
In Postscript:
<a href="http://www.hillier.de/kwrite-correct.ps">correct version (with highlighting \
disabled) (~100k)</a>
<a href="http://www.hillier.de/kwrite-wrong.ps">correct version (with highlighting \
enabled) (~200k)</a>
If you don't want to download these two big files, I've made two PNGs showing three \
lines from the above postscript files.
<a href="http://www.hillier.de/kwrite-correct.png">correct version (with highlighting \
disabled) (~2k)</a>
<a href="http://www.hillier.de/kwrite-wrong.png">correct version (with highlighting \
enabled) (~2k)</a>
Good luck in finding the bug! ;)
