Package: kwrite Version: 3.0 (using KDE 2.2.2 ) Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc 2.95.3 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Gentoo Linux (www.gentoo.org) I can't believe my eyes! After typing : kwrite `perl -e 'print "A" x 8200;'` in konsole, kwrite starts and then X server crashes. This is perfectly reproductible on my machine, and it works only if the number passed in parameters is larger than 8191. It happens only in kwrite, kword survives without any problem. I paste here the log of my kde (together with XFree one, I am going to send this report to xfree.org too) : XFree86 Version 4.1.0 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510) Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.15-pre5 i686 [ELF] (II) ATI(0): Using XFree86 Acceleration Architecture (XAA) Screen to screen bit blits Solid filled rectangles 8x8 mono pattern filled rectangles Indirect CPU to Screen color expansion Solid Lines Offscreen Pixmaps Setting up tile and stipple cache: 32 128x128 slots 9 256x256 slots 4 512x512 slots kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 26893 result = 0 DCOP: register 'anonymous-26893' -> number of clients is now 1 DCOPServer up and running. kdeinit: Launched KLauncher, pid = 26897 result = 0 [snip] kde starting (konqueror logs), nothing strange konqueror: KonqView::slotCompleted khtml (part): saveState! khtml (part): KHTMLPart::saveState saving URL http://dot.kde.org/982437150/982496551/982501383/982503460/982506359/982511288/ libkonq: ## addToHistory: http://dot.kde.org/982437150/982496551/982501383/982503460/982506359/982511288/Typed URL: http://dot.kde.org/982437150/982496551/982501383/982503460/982506359/982511288/, Title: Please use klipper.
