Thanks for pointing me to this bug report.

In the meanwhile, I recompiled Kwin with a debug message in line 168 in 
lanczosfilter.cpp

It turns out that:

1) Lanczos filter is enabled both with mesa 9.0.2 and mesa 9.1, as the 
message:

KWin::SceneOpenGL2::SceneOpenGL2: OpenGL 2 compositing successfully 
initialized

appears in both cases

2) The debug message I added is shown (multiple times) in both cases when I 
activate the task switcher with the grid layout. So, I guess the lanczos 
filter is used in both cases

I saved the debug messages, so I can send them to you if needed.

Can I do something else to help you track down this issue?
