Yes, in doubt the running one. Still it has to tell the X server when to redirect input to which window. (the presence of a pointer does actually not matter, i hoped to be able to stree the requirement of a general API for all clients to set the input focus) One note: you opened at least three bugs on the same topic. that's not too helpfull.
