kwin is running and I see nothing in /var/log/messages about a problem. When I
was doing this I "switched user" to another dummy account and was working
there. Have not tried it on my normal account since I have a lot going on
there. So far, hasn't affect it. 

Also, no crash handler invoked (I assume you mean the RED siren thing). abrtd
is running OK.
